Wrong to say Modi did nothing to end alienation in Kashmir, Jitendra Singh says to Oppn

NEW DELHI:  Minister of State in the PMO and MP from Udhampur Dr Jitendra Singh today said the  mainstream political parties too along with the separatists were fuelling unrest among the Kashmiri youth, and the atmosphere of violence created by them made it difficult to hold talks with stakeholders.

” The Modi Government had taken several steps to end the alienation of the Kashmir people, but for the talks to start there should be some semblance of peace in the Valley,” Dr Singh said.

”In a democracy doors for dialogue can never be shut, and it was finally for the Government to take a call, but you cannot talk to a person who is pelting stone at you,” he added.

His remarks come amidst increasing Opposition outcry over what they call the failure of the Government to hold dialogue with all stakeholders in the Valley to put an end to violence.

Dr Singh also said that the Government had taken various steps to isolate the separartist elements which he hoped would show the result.

”The youth of Kashmir are like other youth of the country and they have same aspirations to be part of India’s development story being written by Prime Minister Modi,” he said.

The Kashmiri youth  has high of capability, and they do not want to waste their life , he said.

” It is unfortunate to see the hands which were are capable of doing wonders were being wasted in pelting stones, and those who were giving stones in their hands  were sending their own children to high institutions of learning to make their career.,” Dr Singh said.

The fact that 68000 youth applied for 700 vacant posts in the Police department of the state spoke volumes about where the preferences of the Kashmiri people lay, Dr Singh said.

Replying to a question, he said Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was fully cooperating with the Centre  to bring normalcy in the state.

He pointed out that Ms Mufti had already said that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who could bring the present crisis to an end and find a lasting solution to the issue.

Launching a scathing attack on those sponsoring terror and sending inflitrators from across the border, the Minister said the country’s  armed forces were fully capable of taking all required action to protect the territorial integrity of the country, and their recent actions against Pakistan were an ample proof of their resolve.
