JAMMU, Aug 4: Six days workshop on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) organized by Government College for Women (GCW) Parade commenced today.
MOOCs are free online courses for everyone to enroll. MOOCs provide an affordable and flexible ways to learn new skills and deliver quality educational experiences.
The objective of the workshop is to train the faculty to design, develop, deliver, transact e-content of their courses and motivate the students to use these free online courses.
Faculty members of different colleges across the State are participating in this workshop.
The workshop is also being attended by Sanjeev Rana, Deputy Secretary Higher Education Department and Dr Zeba Suleman, Under Secretary, Higher Education Department.
The workshop was inaugurated by Secretary, Higher Education, Talat Parvez Rohella.
Resource persons for the day were Prof K Srinivas Head ICT and Project Management Unit, Chairman e-Learning Cell NIEPA, New Delhi and Prof R C Sharma, Regional Director, IGNOU, New Delhi, Principal Parade College Dr Hemla Aggarwal and other dignitaries.
Earlier, Principal formally welcomed the participants.
Secretary addressed the faculty and expressed his desire to conduct such workshops in different colleges across the State.
In the first session, Prof K Srinivas enlightened the participants about digital initiatives of GOI in Higher Education enabling for blended and flipped classroom learning. He focused on MOOCs Conceptual Design: Inputs for Design and Deliver in the second session.
Prof RC Sharma, the resource person for third and fourth sessions provided hands on practice to the participants on Open Educational Resources (OER) and Content Management Systems (CMS).
The workshop was coordinated by Prof JN Walia and Prof Gaurav Sehgal from Central University Jammu.
