JAMMU, Feb 23: The website of Sarhad Kargil International Marathon-23 was launched by Santosh Sukhdeve, District Collector Kargil in presence of Sanjay Nahar founder president Sarhad, Dr Shailesh Pagariya- organizer (SKIM), Advocate Abhay Chhajed, Vasant Gokhale – Race Director at Pune today.
Sumant Waikar -technical director, Yuvraj Shah, Anuj Nahar, Dr. Amol Develkar and Vaibhav Wagh were present during the function.
It is 6th edition of Sarhad Kargil International Marathon which will be organized by Sarhad Pune at Kargil town in association with Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), DC Office and local administration on September 17.
The registration of online entries for the above event will be started from March 1 onwards.
While launching the website, Santosh Sukhdeve said that this year also support from local Government and LAHDC will be provided for this event, while advisory support for technical and organizational conduction will be provided by Pune International Marathon Trust, Pune and digitally and other support will be made available by ARHM-Educational Institute, Pune.
The starting point of SKIM 2023 full marathon and other road races competitions will be from Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium Baroo in Kargil, which passes through Saliskot village (21.1 km), famous Suru valley road and returns back the same route at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium.
A total cash prize of Rs.8 lakhs will be given for the winners of all 12 groups of men and women, boys and girls (Under 16 & 18 years ) of this event, said Sanjay Nahar, founder president of Sarhad Pune.
“Full marathon for men and women (42.195 km), half marathon for men and women (21.0975 km), 10K and 5K for men and women will be organized during the event. Also from this year, the organizing committee has introduced four more groups for school going boys and girls (under 16 yrs.) and youngsters students from junior and senior college (under 18 yrs.).
Each participant will get a t-shirt, Finisher’s medal after successful completion of the race, medical and all other route support will be made available.
