JAMMU, Oct 19: Western Army Commander Lieutenant General Surinder Singh visited field formations deployed along the International Border with China in Himachal Pradesh during his three-day tour of the State.
An official handout issued here by the Western Command said Lt Gen Singh, while reviewing the operational readiness of the formations in the forward areas, had detailed deliberations with field commanders, besides also interacting with troops.
The Army Commander appreciated the high state of operational readiness and the motivation and morale of troops despite the difficult terrain and extreme weather conditions.
He exhorted the troops to remain alert and operationally ready and emphasized the need to ensure infallible security measures and to be ready for all contingencies.
The General met Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at Shimla. He also had a meeting with Lieutenant General DR Soni, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Army Training Command (ATC), Shimla.
