Scores of residents assembled at the Press Enclave here and demanded establishment of Degree College in their area. Amid sloganeering, the protestors blamed the Government for ignoring the area and urged it to establish a Degree College in Wachi village instead of Zanipora area of the constituency as plenty of State land is available there. The protestors were carrying placards which read “we want Degree College” and “we want justice”.
The protestors said that a few years back government planned to establish a Degree College at Zanipora area of the Wachi constituency but non-availability of land marred the project. “Just three kilometers away from zanipora is our village Wachi where plenty of State land is available that can be used for the purpose. But, Government is not using it for unknown reasons and letting people suffer,” Abdul Gani, head of the local Auqaf Committee said.
He alleged that both the administration and the MLA of the constituency were acting as roadblocks to the project. “We deserve the college in every way,” he said.
The protestors appealed the Governor to look into the matter and fulfill their demands.
