UDHAMPUR, Jan 17: Volleyball Tournament under Civic Action Programme for the year 2014-15 was organized by District Police Udhampur in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports Office, Udhampur at Mini Stadium Udhampur, which concluded here today.
Eight teams of different Youth Clubs of District Udhampur participated in the Tournament.
Garib Dass, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range Headquarters was the chief guest.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Mohd.Suleman Choudhary, SSP Udhampur, Khalil Ahmed Poswal, Additional SP Udhampur, Gourav Mahajan, DySP Hqrs Udhampur, Mahesh Sharma SHO P/S Udhampur, besides veteran players and prominent citizens which included Ramanand Baria, Sham Kalsotrta and Subash Gupta.
Speaking on the occasion, Dy Inspector General of Police complimented the organizers for the successful conduct of the tournament, adding that holding of this tournament was a step forward to encourage the sports culture for healthy society and to bridge the gap between Police and public.
Earlier, in the final, City Volleyball Club defeated Housing Colony Volleyball Club by 25-21and 25-22 to lift the title trophy.
Later-on, SSP Udhampur along with other dignitaries distributed cash prizes and trophies amounting to Rs 8000 and Rs 4000 to the winners and runners-up teams of the Tournament respectively.
