JAMMU, Sept 18: VHP has appealed the people to respect the sentiments of Hindus by enforcing the ban on beef in the State as has been a law for over last 150 years.
Talking to reporters here, today VHP patron Dr Rama Kant Dubey, its president Leela Karan Sharma,  senior leader Sudershan Khajuria and others said that cow is being worshiped by Hindus all over the globe and she is considered a scared animal, hence its slaughter is against the teachings of Hindu religion.
They said those trying to defy the law in this regard are trying to create a law and order problem in the State.
They said the Kashmir was a paradise on earth but some people have turned it into hell now. Hindus worship cow and their sentiments get hurt with its slaughter, they added.
The VHP leaders demanded action against those who are trying to defy the law in this regard. They further said that the police officers be also taken to task who failed to enforce the law in letter and spirit in the State.
While taking a dig at the Government also they said it seems that the Government was also working under the dictates of anti-national forces so it is not in a position to curb them.
