SAMBA, Sept 3: District Police Samba has arrested one person along with a vehicle laden with banned timber under the jurisdiction of P/S Ghagwal at NHW Tapyal,.
Police said a team of P/S Ghagwal headed by SHO, Inspector, Sudhir Sadotra, under the supervision of Dy.SP Headquarters Samba, Tilak Raj Bhardwaj while performing vehicle checking at Naka NHW Tapyal intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number JK02AH-0943 which was coming from Kathua towards Samba.
During checking of the vehicle, 44 quintals of banned timber (Khair-Wood) was found laden in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle identified as Surjeet Singh S/o Omkar Singh of Badoli, Dinga-Amb, Kathua was arrested and the vehicle along with timber was also seized on the spot. After conducting all the legal formalities, Samba Police handed over the driver along with seized truck laden with timber to the concerned Forest Department for further proceeding into the investigation.
