SRINAGAR, Oct 19: Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, called on Governor N. N. Vohra, Chancellor of the University, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
The Governor held extensive discussions with Prof. Sharma regarding the implementation of a systematic plan for enlarging the University’s capacities in the teaching and research arenas and to develop the institution as a centre of excellence. They also discussed several important issues relating to the functioning of the off-site Campuses.
The Governor re-iterated his concern about the need for maintenance of high standards of discipline, decorum and productivity by the students and the Faculties, to enable the University to maintain its standing.
Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, called on Governor.
Prof. Aima briefed the Chancellor about the infrastructure development of the campus at Bagla village, Raya Suchani, and about the status of the ongoing teaching and research programmes in the University. He also informed the Governor about the recruitment of faculty and non-teaching staff, intake of students, and about several administrative issues related to the University.
The Governor emphasised the need to ensure the establishment of essential facilities in the University within given time frames and continuing hard work for achieving high standards in teaching, research and extra-curricular activities.
