JAMMU, Dec 19: The Human Resource Development Centre ( HRDC) of University of Jammu today organized an inter active programme of Assistant Professors with the Vice Chancellor Prof R D Sharma for receiving  their feedback and opinion with regard to different areas of working in the University of Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof R D Sharma called upon the young faculty members to utilize their potential to the fullest to gain better knowledge and experience and disseminate the same to their students. “Teaching is one of the best paid and respected jobs in the country and the teachers must rise to the occasion and contribute their maximum towards nation building not only in the field of teaching and research but also towards the society,” he said.
Terming conduct, character and commitment as the three cornerstones of an academic, Prof RD Sharma advised the teachers to attend more seminars, workshops and research programmes in order to sharpen their knowledge and class room teaching skills. Teachers, Prof Sharma said, have a larger role towards the society and they should not only be role models but should also prepare their students to face the challenges of life and find suitable job placements. “Teachers in Higher education are not only education providers but also the harbingers of change for they also generate knowledge,” he added.
Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta, Dean of the Academic Affairs and Prof Jigar Mohd. Dean Research, also spoke on the occasion.
The Vice Chancellor also replied to the queries of the Assistant Professors and appreciated their positive, constructive feedback and progressive opinions.
Earlier, Prof Naresh Padha, Director HRDC gave an overview about the various programmes being organized by HRDC and outlined the purpose of organizing the interactive meet. Ranjeet Kalra from HRDC, conducted proceeding of the programme and also presented a formal vote of thanks.
