LOS ANGELES, Oct 27: In a bizarre incident, a US woman allegedly set her 15-year-old pet cat’s tail on fire – and then posted a video of the gruesome act on Facebook.
Monica Ferreri, from Redlands, California, who set the feline on fire, was arrested after a video paired with a status that read “Lighting Monica’s cat on fire” was posted on the social networking site.
After being posted, the video quickly got three “likes.” One of the woman’s friend’s wrote “You are awesome”.
However, when one of the woman’s friends criticised her action, Ferreri shot back, ‘CBS News Los Angeles’ reported.
“The cat isn’t set on fire, it is a bit of her fur. Chill,” Ferreri wrote in response.
Authorities have arrested Ferreri after the incident.
The woman’s neighbours were shocked by the alleged act of cruelty, the report said.
The cat is now being cared for by Animal Control officers and is expected to make a full recovery. (PTI)
