Unsung Heroes

Sir,
It is heartening to read that several Kashmiri youth from unaffected areas of the valley played an important role helping the stranded people by rescuing them, collecting relief material such as rice, vegetables, milk, oil etc and taking them to safer areas irrespective of their caste, creed and religion and other narrow considerations.
At the same time, these unprecedented floods have brought people of all communities and religions closer together, who have helped eachother generously from the core of their hearts at a great risk to their lives.Though the Indian Army, Air Force,Marine Commandos and NDRF did a commendable job in rescuing thousands of flood affected people and providing them relief in the form of food, drinking water, medicines, blankets etc.,the role of the local youth  as unsung heroes in helping the stranded people cannot be ignored.
An unprecedented disaster of such a huge magnitude invariably requires the services and participation of one and all to provide succour to the affected people. It is at this crucial juncture that the local people have amply demonstrated that they are full of the milk of humanity and supplemented the rescue and relief efforts of the Government,Army,AirForce, NDRF, Indian Red Cross Society, NGOs and other organisations in times of hardships and distress, exhibiting real spirit of Kashmiryat. It is a wonderful and soothing sight to see people of one community providing relief and sharing the grief and sorrows of the people of other community and providing them shelter in their religious places though some unscruplous elements did not abstain from fleecing people by charging as many as exhorbitant rates for eatables such as packet of biscuits, bottle of water or charging heavy fare from the trapped people to the airport or other safer places. But all said and done, the people belonging to different communities and religions have demonstrated that humanity is still alive in the midst of surging materialism in the modern times.
Yours etc……
