VIJAYPUR, Nov 30: Assailing Bharatiya Janata Party for deriving sadistic pleasure in creating division among various segments of the society, National Conference (NC) candidate for Vijaypur Constituency, Surjeet Singh Slathia today said unity was imperative for progress and development of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr Slathia also took on People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for its opportunism and duplicity, saying it stands exposed before the people for its double standards.
He was addressing a series of election meetings at Mandi Paddarpoali, Gurah Slathian, Birpur, Songwal, Thlori Gujran, Ratanpur, Gudwal Camp, Beribud, Khoo Talab, Suchani and Rahya Mohalla.
Slathia said that those inciting passions by raking up emotive slogans were actually creating obstacles in the path of State’s odyssey towards progress and development. He said there can’t be any alternative to development for which the people have been craving for long.
“The people want better roads, improved infrastructural facilities in various segments of utility sectors, employment and overall development”, he said adding those feeding them with poisonous propaganda were jeopardizing their interests.
He referred to anti-people policies of BJP and PDP, saying they plunged the State into morass from time to time. He said it was National Conference alone that plunged into the scene and steered the State to a new era of peace and development during most testing times.
“National Conference alone is capable of meeting the urges and aspirations of all segments of the society”, he said and referred to the initiatives taken by the Omar led Government in putting the path of development.
Referring to his agenda for Vijaypur constituency, the NC candidate said the main plank will be development and empowerment of different sections of society. He said the ensuing years will witness development getting new impetus with focused attention on power, drinking water, irrigation, health, education and agriculture sectors.
