JAMMU, Aug 14: The host School- Unique Public Higher Secondary School Gadi Garh excelled in the 4th District Jammu Tug of War Championship by winning Sub-Junior 17 years (Boys & Girls) (Mixed 4+4) and runner up in Junior 19 years (Mixed 4+4) titles, here today.
The championship was organized by the District Association. Around 190 students representing School and Clubs of the district participated in the championship.
In the prize distribution function, general secretary J&K Tug of War Association, Jodh Singh Isher was chief guest, while Jasbir Singh, joint secretary was the guest of honour. They gave away prizes to winners and runner ups.
Jodh Singh Isher appealed to all the participants to take part in sports in a big way and stay away from drugs and refrain from indulging in anti-social activities so as to become a healthy and responsible citizen. Nirlap Kour (Head of the School Management), Ravinder Singh international player, and Arti Jamwal coordinator the host School were present during the event.
In sub junior under 17 (Mix 4+4) weight 520 kg, Unique Public defeated GBHS Brij Nagar by 2-1 sets and Honey Club RS Pura trounced GHS Basti Gobind Singh Pura Simbal Morh by 2-0 sets and the Unique Public School Gadi Garh outplayed Honey Club RS Pura by 2-1 sets in the first semifinals, 2nd semifinals and finals respectively.
In junior under19 (Mix 4+4) weight 540 kg, the host School defeated Diamond Club Gandhi Nagar by 2-0 sets in first semifinals, while Adarsh Club Miran Sahib defeated Khalsa Club Nanak Nagar by 2-0 set in 2nd semifinals and Adarsh Club Miran Sahib defeated Unique Public School by 2-1 sets in the finals.
The matches were officiated by the technical panel including Sourav Dubey, Jaswinder Singh, Kiran Kumari, Amolak Singh and Suman Kumari.
