JAMMU, Feb 28: Additional Secretary, Union Ministry of Rural Development, Alka Upadhyaya today convened a meeting to review the progress of various Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) works being undertaken in Jammu and Kashmir.
Director Projects, NRIDA/ CQC, Dr. I K Pateriya; Chief Engineer, PMGSY Jammu, Des Raj; Chief Engineer PMGSY Kashmir, Showket Geelani, besides all SEs and Exens of Jammu and Kashmir Divisions were present in the meeting.
A detailed presentation was made before the Additional Secretary regarding the achievements of PMGSY programme in Jammu and Kashmir and bottlenecks hampering the progress of works.
It was informed that 169 cases stand cleared in different Forest Advisory Committee meetings in a record time and these works are going to start soon.
It was also given out that 52 works are still in the process of forest clearance.
The Additional Secretary impressed upon all the concerned officers to follow the cases with the Department for early cutting of trees/clearance of pending cases so that these works are taken up accordingly.
Alka Upadhyaya stressed upon the Chief Engineers to expedite the process of awarding of remaining contracts so that last mile connectivity can be achieved.
Pertinently, under the PMGSY-II sanctioned by the centre in November 2019 a road length of 704.55 Kms with an accumulative cost of Rs. 88270.00 lakhs shall be undertaken in Jammu and Kashmir.
