TYO seeks Governor’s attention for construction of bridge

JAMMU, Feb 12: Tawi Youth Organization (TYO) has expressed concern over the delaying tactics of Government in initiating the construction work of Nikki Tawi bridge at Surechack.
Addressing a press conference, Ajay Kumar Badyal, president, TYO said that the Nikki Tawi bridge got washed away due to flash floods in September 2014 and till date no progress has been made to which residents of the areas consisting of around 50 villages are suffering badly.
He stated that the rainy season is approaching and if the work of construction of newly sanctioned bridge is not taken up on priority, the residents of Tawi island area will have to face a lot of hardships in the upcoming days.
“On behalf of Tawi island residents, TYO has sought attention of Governor NN Vohra to direct the concerned executing agency to prioritize the work of construction of new bridge and execute it on fast-track basis”, he added.
He further stated that alternative route to Jammu city via Karnaile Chack, and Bhagwati Nagar bridge be improved before rainy season. Apart from this, he also highlighted transportation problem and requested the concerned authority that the route permits of all the mini-buses plying in this area be extended to Satwari or Ambphalla.
He also requested the State authority to refix the passenger fare as the rates of diesel have continuously been reduced for the past several months.
Among others present were Babu Verma, Bupesh Choudhary, Randeep Chib, Ajmer Singh, Naresh Verma and Sukhdev Singh.
