Srinagar, Oct 10: Two suspected cases of monkeypox are under the scanner in Uri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The officials told Excelsior that the suspected patients belong to the Dazna Lachipora area of Uri and stand isolated as of now.
“Both the patients have fever and lesions on their skin that resemble monkeypox or chickenpox, but the same has not been confirmed as yet.
“I have sent the samples of both the patients to SKIMS and most likely the reports will be available by tomorrow,” Block Medical Officer (BMO) Boniyar Dr. Pervaiz Masoodi told Excelsior.
The officials said that both cases are suspected and there is no surety whether it is monkeypox or anything else.
The BMO Boniyar said that following the emergence of suspected cases a focused awareness drive has been launched and people are being briefed about the disease and its prevention.
