JAMMU, Mar 7: In a drive to save the youth from drug abuse, police arrested two inter-state narcotic smugglers with large number of intoxicant capsules and banned syrup bottles from Narwal chowk area, falling under the jurisdiction of Bahu Fort police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, a joint team from Bahu Fort police station and Narwal police post laid a naka near Narwal chowk and signaled a Wagon-R car bearing registration number JK02AL-2298 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the car and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 6500 intoxicant capsules and 65 bottles of banned syrup from the vehicle. Two persons traveling in the car were arrested and the vehicle was also seized.
The accused have been identified as Rajbeer Singh, son of Shubh Karam Singh, a resident of Baramulla, at present Nanak Nagar and Sameer Ahmed Mir, son of Abdul Khalid Mir, a resident of Baramulla.
The accused after bringing the consignment of drugs from outside J&K were on their way to deliver the consignment to their associates for further distribution among the youth in Narwal and its adjoining areas, but their attempt was thwarted by the joint team from Bahu Fort police station and Narwal police post.
A case under FIR number 51/16 under Section 8 /21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Bahu Fort police station and investigation started to arrest other members of the group, who are hell bent to destroy the future of the young generation by engaging them into drugs business.
Police team led by SHO Bahu Fort police station Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria and Incharge Narwal police post SI Mehmood Khan made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Chandan Kohli and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
