JAMMU, Dec 3: Ahead of DDC polls in Bhalwal Block, Gharota police today arrested two persons and recovered illicit liquor from their possession.
“On getting information regarding sale of liquor in contravention of Excise Act by one person namely Darshan Singh son of Nanak Singh of Dharam Khoo (tehsil Bhalwal), Gharota police laid a naka and apprehended the accused with 73 quarters of JK Desi whisky,” a police official said.
He said, on specific inputs, Gharota police further apprehended a person namely Kuldeep Singh son of Vakeel Singh of Amb (tehsil Bhalwal) and recovered 20 litres of Hooch (Desi Lahaan)/1.4 litres of Pure Hooch (Desi Whisky), besides utensils from his possession.
“Accordingly, two separate cases vide FIR Number 101/2020 and FIR Number 102/2020 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered in police station Gharota and further investigation started,” the official added.
