AMRITSAR, Mar 8: A two-day workshop on the topic ‘Critical Care & Intensive Care- Role of Physiotherapy Professionals’ concluded today here at Amandeep Hospital.
The workshop was organized by Amandeep Hospital in association with Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and attended by 45 physiotherapy students of various colleges.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr VP Gupta, Chief Physiotherapist, CT Department, AIIMS New Delhi, said, “Physiotherapy has proven its importance among the health care systems. Its utility in dealing with issues in the intensive care has made the presence of physiotherapy professionals mandatory or inevitable among the team of health care professionals in the intensive care units. Update in the physiotherapy system regarding the care of critically ill patients has been contributing in preventing, minimizing and treating the pathophysiology and post intervention complications”.
The workshop was to update the skills and knowledge of the young and budding physiotherapy professionals from those institutions and areas of practice where they are not having intensive care set-ups. But the requirement of Physiotherapy professionals in intensive care set-ups is ever increasing and such skill enhancements workshops provide the necessary resources to the professionals to remain competent to tackle the patients of critical illness.
The workshop was crafted in such a way that it served the basic concept of the patient care and vital components of critical care besides recent updates in the interventions and patient management in the critical care set-ups.
Apart from Dr Gupta, Dr Sachin Bhushan (Physioth-erapist, CT Department, AIIMS New Delhi), Dr Archna (Physiotherapy Department, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar) and Dr Amandeep Kaur (Medical Director, Amandeep Hospital), Dr Dapinder Kaur, Dr Mani Bajaj and Dr Amandeep Kaur (Physiotherapists, Amandeep Hospital) also addressed the workshop.
