JAMMU, June 9: Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have arrested two persons involved in a chain-snatching incident at Janipur area and recovered the stolen gold chain besides seizing a two-wheeler used in the crime.
Officials said the action followed a complaint lodged by one Kiran Devi of Khanpur, Nagrota, who reported that two unidentified persons riding a scooty snatched her gold chain near Aap Shamboo Morh in Roop Nagar and fled from the spot.
Accordingly, police registered a case FIR number 86/2026 under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Janipur and launched an investigation, they said.
Officials said during the probe, a police team led by PSI Danish Hamid tracked down two individuals, identified as Ram Anuraghi, a native of Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh presently residing at Narwal, and Abdullah, a native of Myanmar presently living in Channi Rama, Jammu.
During questioning, they said the duo confessed to their involvement in the crime and on their disclosure, the stolen gold chain was recovered from their possession. Officials said a scooty used in the offence was also seized.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway to ascertain whether the accused were involved in other similar crimes in the region.
