JAMMU, May 24: Two brothers sustained serious injuries after they were attacked by a rival gang on the Ring Road at Haripur, Phallain Mandal area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Satwari on Saturday night.
Taking cognizance of the incident, police have registered a case under the relevant sections of law at Police Station Satwari and arrested three individuals involved in the crime. A pistol used during the attack has also been seized.
Sources said the injured siblings, identified as Paras Sharma and Rishu Sharma, sons of Pawan Kumar and residents of Sure Chak, Mandal, were travelling in a Scorpio vehicle when they were allegedly intercepted by members of the Gugli gang headed by gangster Happy Choudhary alias Gugli at Haripur, Phallain Mandal area around 8 PM on Saturday night.

The assailants reportedly blocked the vehicle’s path and attacked the brothers with sharp-edged weapons besides opening fire on them, creating panic in the area.
Soon after receiving information, a police team arrived at the crime scene and shifted the injured to Government Medical College Jammu, from where they were further referred to a hospital in Amritsar for advanced treatment in view of serious nature of head and leg injuries.
Following the incident, police registered a case under the relevant sections of law at Police Station Satwari and launched a manhunt to trace all those involved in the incident.
A police officer said that three individuals, identified as Rajinder Kumar alias Babbu, Raghuvir and Shivam Choudhary, have been arrested so far, and a pistol allegedly used in the crime has also been seized.
He said further efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused, including the main accused, Happy Choudhary alias Gugli.
Sources said the clash was the outcome of an old rivalry between the two groups, which dates back nearly five years to a dispute during Holi celebrations in Bure Chak village. Since then, several attacks and confrontations have reportedly taken place between the rival groups.
Sources further said that Happy Choudhary had recently been released from jail after the expiry of his detention under the Public Safety Act nearly a month ago.
Meanwhile, police raids were underway till press time to trace the absconding accused besides questioning those already arrested.
CCTV footage from nearby locations was also being scanned as part of the investigation.
Police presence had also been increased in the area following the clash to prevent any further escalation between the rival groups.
