Two arrested for snatching Rs 1 lakh cash

UDHAMPUR, Sept 17: Two persons have been arrested for snatching Rs 1 lakh cash from the person, who was traveling in their auto-rickshaw.
As per police sources, on September 12, Abdul Qayoom, son of Abdul Subhan of Bashat, Tehsil Chenani lodged a complaint with police station Chenani stating that auto driver and his associate snatched a bag having Rs 1 lakh cash and other items.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 93/16 under Section 382 RPC was registered and manhunt was launched to nab the accused.
On specific information, a team from Chenani police station conducted raid today and arrested two persons, who were involved in the snatching case.
The accused have been identified as Rakesh Singh, son of Mohan Lal of Bashat, Tehsil Chenani and Yashpaul Singh, son of Balwant Singh of Chullyar, Tehsil Chenani.
On their disclosure, police recovered the snatched Rs 1 lakh cash, one cheque book of J&K Bank and also seized the auto, which was used to commit the offence.
Further questioning of the accused is going on.
Police team led by SHO Chenani Inspector Mahesh Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Chenani Vinod Sharma, Additional SP Udhampur ML Kaith and SSP Udhampur Suleman Chowdhary.
