RAJOURI, July 4: The police foiled a smuggling attempt and seized a truck loaded with 22 bovine animals in Kheora area of Rajouri last night.
Official sources said that during wee hours on Monday, a police party from Rajouri under the supervision of SHO Rajouri, Fareed Ahmed during routine checking Kheora crossing in Rajouri intercepted a truck which was moving towards Poonch.
The vehicle with registration number JK18B- 2065 was found loaded with 22 bovine animals being smuggled and accused fled away from the spot.
The cattle were tied with ropes badly and very cruel manner without food and water and there was no requisite permission with the driver.
The police claimed to have registered a case FIR No 360/2022 u/s 188 IPC 11 PC Act at Police Station Rajouri in this connection and said that a manhunt to arrest the driver was going on, who escaped from the spot.
