Transportation of fruit: Veeri for regulation of freight charges

ANANTNAG, Sept 26: Taking strong note of the overcharging of freight for transportation of apple boxes, Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri today directed concerned officers to regulate the freight charges immediately within and outside the State.
He was speaking in a review meeting regarding the progress of development and implementation of various schemes and programmes in Anantnag.
The meeting which was attended by MLA Kokernag Abdul Rahim Rather, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Chief Engineer R&B and  district officers of various departments.
A detailed presentation on the progress of various developmental projects in district Anantnag was presented by DC.  The presentation was followed by the detailed review of the progress of work under departments and schemes.
The schemes which were reviewed include MGNREGA, RMSA,NFB, Mid-Day meals, PMGSY, SSA, SBM, IAY and others.
Veeri sought details about the number of beneficiaries of each scheme, bottlenecks in implementation of the schemes and steps needed to make these schemes more participatory and beneficial for the public.
He stressed on achieving the targets and filing Detailed Project Reports on time to the concerned agencies.
The Minister also sought report on the progress of Medical College, Trauma Center Bijbehara, 300-bedded District Hospital Anantnag, Degree College Larnoo,  Auditorium of Women’s College Anantnag and status of construction work on  various health centers and different irrigation schemes in the district.
He asked the officers to make periodical reviews of the progress of various developmental works a regular feature of departmental functioning.
The Minister said that schemes meant for the welfare of the poor and marginalized communities should be implemented on priority.
The Minister added that at least one work in every Panchayat should be taken up under convergence scheme.
