Traders shocked with 5 thefts over-night

MENDHAR, May 13: The members of trading community were shocked with the five burglaries which took place in different shops in the main market in Mendhar town of district Poonch here last night.
Interestingly, there is night police patrol in the market in Mendhar town and despite this, the thieves managed to break shutters not only one or two, but of five shops during the over night operation and decamped with huge cash and various fresh currency notes ‘Marriage Hars’ and other items. Not only this they managed to escape in a Tata Sumo parked in the area.
During over night operation, the burglars broke opened the karayana shops of Kuldip Kumar Gupta, son of Nathu Ram from Ari, Mohd Zamir, son of Mohd Ayub and ex-serviceman Mohd Sarwar Khan, son of Munshi Khan of Ari village, tea stall of Farid Ahmed resident of Chhunga and computer/ mobile phone shop of Arshed Mehmood, son of Haji Mohd Sharief. 15 mobile phones and 15 SIM Cards were also stolen from the shop of Arshed. Rs 17,000 cash was stolen from Farid’s shop while fresh currency note hars in large number were also stolen from three shops.
The traders came to know about the matter only in the morning. The executive committee members of Beopar Mandal Mendhar also reached there and they lodged their strong protest with the SDPO Mendhar and sought action against the night patrol party of local Thana. They alleged that police men on night duty should also be held equally responsible for this act. It is not new thing in Mendhar as many such thefts have also taken place in the past and no case could be worked out.
