JAMMU, Mar 15: A delegation of tourism industry people, led by Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra, president Rakesh Wazir and chairman Shyam Lal Kesar, called on Advisor to Governor, Parvez Dewan wherein Principal Secretary Tourism Sandeep Naik and Commissioner Secretary Health & Medical Education M K Bhandhari were also present.
The delegation discussed in detail the Tourism, Health & Medical Education related issues pertaining to people and Tourism Industry in particular.
Mr Wazir said that Tourism incentive package rules, which are expiring on March 31, be extended and likewise various incentives, received by industries from different Ministries including Ministry of Medium & Small Scale Industries etc, be given to the Tourism Industry. He also suggested empowering and designating some official from Tourism to register Tourism related units under Industries/MSME.
Mr Kesar requested that no new tax in any way be enforced on the Tourism Industry including hotels, guest houses, lodges, Restaurants etc and exemptions on taxes be carried farward besides providing all industrial benefits to Tourism industry as well.
Mr Kesar and Mr Wazir even raised the issues pertaining to Health & Medical Education Ministry, including early start of Jammu AIIMS with its appropriate site, upgradation of Health facilities in Jammu region, particularly in Jammu Medical College Hospital, Katra, and enroute to Vaishno Devi Bhawan etc.
Mr Dewan patiently listened to each and every point raised in the meeting and assured sympathetic consideration of the same at appropriate levels.
The delegation comprised of Ravi Mahajan, Virender Kesar, Madan Aggarwal, Ajay Kotwal, Vivek Sharma, Sumit Khajuria, Nishant Sharma, Amit Rahi and Vishal Sharma.
