Srinagar, Mar 10: Casual labourers working in Tourism Department today staged a protest and demanded release of their withheld salaries and sought their regularisation.
The protesters said they have been protesting for the release of their salaries, which are pending from one year, and regularisation since long time but their demands have not been met. “Government is stopping our salaries by saying that we were disbanded by last governor but when we ask them for any order regarding the ban they refuse,” said the protesters.
“Last year Government banned the recruitment of new casual labourers but Tourism department has made 350 back door appointments,” they alleged. “We are being forced into starvation and our kids are being expelled from schools due to non payment of dues,” they said, and demanded release of their salaries.
