JAMMU, Feb 10:  Senior leaders of RSS and BJP today during a high-level meeting in New Delhi reviewed the performance of the PDP-BJP coalition Government in the border State and discussed various options to resolve the on-going political impasse. While there were divergent views about the performance of the then coalition Government, most of the participants favoured continuation of the coalition with PDP and early formation of democratically elected Government in the State.
Reliable sources told EXCELSIOR, “the meeting which took place in the afternoon at RSS headquarter was attended by senior functionaries of the RSS, BJP and three senior leaders of the party from the State. The Central leadership held threadbare discussions over the Agenda of Alliance that was agreed upon between the two coalition partners before Government formation and as to what were the achievements of the coalition during its eight month tenure”.
“The leaders discussed in detail the performance of State unit of BJP while being in Government and the response of PDP to all issues confronting the State. The leaders also confabulated the status of BJP’s own agenda and status of various issues including that of border residents, refugees and return of Kashmiri Pandits”, sources said, adding, “Prime Minister’s Rs 80,000 crore economic package to the State was also discussed in the meeting and the steps required to ensure its implementation on ground at the earliest possible”.
Leaders, who were privy to the meeting, were categorical that most of the leaders favoured continuation of the alliance with PDP, which had catapulted BJP to power for the first time in the border State. “There was near consensus that efforts should be initiated for early resolution of the political impasse so as to pave way for Government formation. But, there should be no deviation from the already agreed Agenda of Alliance between the two coalition partners and all future discussions should take place between the parameters of the already agreed roadmap”, sources asserted.
BJP’s national general secretary and point-man of J&K, Ram Madhav when contacted told EXCELSIOR, “talks were going on with BJP through some channels and we are hoping for early end to the political stalement in the State”.
Asked about his proposed visit to Kashmir for taking the dialogue with PDP further, he said, “I shall be visiting Kashmir to discuss the issues raised by PDP leadership, but the date hasn’t been finalised”.
To a pointed query if the PDP has set forward some new conditions, he said, “it wouldn’t be appropriate to comment at this stage”. It is pertinent to mention here that PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti has categorically told that the Modi-led Government at the Centre needs to take certain Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) aimed at early implementation of issues mentioned in the Agenda of Alliance.
When asked about the controversy pertaining the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS), he said, “the Centre has taken the issue very seriously and will take all possible steps to ensure that students of Jammu and Kashmir don’t suffer on this front. The matter will also be taken up with the concerned educational institutions”.
Party sources also stated that another review meeting by the top leadership of RSS-BJP is likely to take place in near future after some breakthrough is achieved in dialogue with PDP. “The senior leadership also authorised the BJP’s point-man on J&K – Ram Madhav to hold consultations with PDP and party’s State unit to take the dialogue further for early end to the political stalemate”.
Sources also confirmed  that the BJP National General Secretary, Ram Madhav would be personally visiting Srinagar on February 15 to push further the dialogue for formation of coalition Government in the State. The day would also mark the completion of 40 days of the demise of PDP Patron and former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
The high level meeting between RSS and senior party functionaries of BJP at RSS headquarter in New Delhi was held under the chairmanship of Krishna Gopal, RSS Sah-Sakaryavah, who deals with all matters pertaining to BJP in the country and was attended by RSS Prant Pracharak, Ramesh Papa, Prant Sangh Chalak, Brig Suchet Singh; Prant Karvyavah; Purushottam Dadhichi, Sah Prant Karyavah;  BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav, BJP Vice President, Avinash Khanna; Dr Jitendra Singh,  MoS in PMO; State General Secretary Ashok Kaul (Org), former Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh and State president Sat Sharma.
