Tip Top Club wins Talent Hunt Cricket Tournament at Leh

‘Ladakh to get 3 permanent members in JKCA’

LEH, Oct 14: Aimed at producing best cricketers at National and International levels, the J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) has been organizing Talent Hunt Cricket Tournaments in every district of the State. As part of this initiative, JKCA organized a cricket tournament in Leh, the final match of which was played today at NDS Cricket Ground between Tip Top Club and JKP team and the former won the match by 6 wickets.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) J&K Cricket Association, Sayeed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari was the chief guest on the occasion while Deputy Commissioner, Leh Avny Lavasa and International Cricketer Parvez Rasool were the guests of honour. The CEC, LAHDC, Leh Dorjey Motup and the Executive Councillor for Youth Services and Sports, Gyal P Wangyal who is also the Vice Chairman, District Sports Council, Leh were also present on the occasion.
Addressing on the occasion, Sayeed Bukhari said that the JKCA for the first time initiated a talent hunt tournament in every nook and corner of the State with sole purpose to give opportunity to every young player of the State, adding that over 50,000 young cricketers from all over the state have exhibited their talent.
The CEO said that holding of such tournament in Ladakh will be an annual feature to give equal opportunity to the Ladakhi cricketers at National and International levels.
Pointing towards a better future for cricket in Ladakh, Mr. Bhukhari said that with the amendment in rules and constitution, Ladakh will get 3 permanent members in J&K Cricket Association besides a permanent post of Joint Secretary that would ensure a strong representation from this region in every decision making process regarding cricket. Responding to the demand for development of a cricket ground in Leh, he said that JKCA is planning to develop a standard ground in Leh with specific needs of cricket game, but the ground should be exclusively for cricket only for which he sought land from the LAHDC, Leh. Bukhari further assured of providing cricket equipments and holding of coaching camps in Ladakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Parvez Rasool said that under the dynamic leadership of Sayeed Bukhari as CEO, JKCA , the State would witness a revolutionary change in cricket soon and Ladakhi players would also get opportunities to demonstrate their talent at National and International level.
Vice Chairman District Sports Council Leh Gyal P Wangyal lauded the initiatives of JKCA under the leadership of Bukhari that has given a new hope for promotion of cricket in Ladakh as well as opportunities for local youths.
Later, the guests gave away trophies to the winners and runners-up teams and also awarded individual players for excelling in different categories.
Tip Top Club defeated JKP team in the summit clash to lift the title.
Earlier, batting first, JKP team managed to set a small target of 128 runs, which in reply, Tip Top Club chased easily by losing 4 wickets to win the match by 6 wickets.
