POONCH/ANANTNAG, Aug 21: On the occasion of Shrawan Purnima thousands of pilgrims visited Budha Amarnath shrine in Mandi Poonch, Prachin Amarnath Shrine in Thejiwara in Bijebehara tehsil of Anantnag district in South Kashmir and Prachin Omoh temple, Veerinag also in Anantnag district of South Kashmir and performed darshan there.
As per reports 20,000 pilgrims performed darshan at Budha Amarnath shrine in Mandi, Poonch on the occasion of Shrawan Purnima today.
The holy mace had reached the Budha Amarnath on August 19. It will return tomorrow morning from there and will be received by district administration in Poonch later in the day. During the Budha Amarnath yatra 15 langers were installed by different organizations. DC and SP Poonch besides local leaders including MLAs and MLCs also visited the shrine to receive the yatris. The administration had also made elaborate arrangements for the pilgrims.
Reports reaching from Anantnag said that a large number of pilgrims visited the Prachin Amarnath cave at Thajiwara in Bijebehara today and performed darshan. The day -long Bhajan Kirtan was held at the shrine and the administration had made elaborate arrangements for the pilgrims.
Besides PDP MLA and former Minister, Abdul Rehman Veeri, DC and SSP Anantnag also visited the shrine to see the arrangements and greet the pilgrims there. The yatra to the holy shrine of Prachin Amarnath was taken from Jammu by Bijebehara Devsthan Prabandhak Committee.
A large number of devotees also visited the Omoh temple in Veerinag where a grand religious function was also organized by Vitasta Devsthan Prabandhak Committee. The devotees including men, women and children paid obeisance in the holy temple and participated in Bhajan Kirtan.
The Managing Committee led by R K Bhat its general secretary had made elaborate arrangements for the devotees.
The Committee also performed Bhoomi Poojan at the Omoh shrine for the construction of Dharmshalla on the occasion.
