Thief arrested for stealing idols, other items from ISKCON temple

JAMMU, Feb 13: A thief has been arrested by police for stealing idols and other items from ISKCON temple at Shakti Nagar.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by the priest of ISKCON temple at Shakti Nagar stating that some unidentified persons barged into the temple premises and decamped with four idols of brass and other items.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 28/16 under Section 457 and 380 RPC was registered at Bakshi Nagar police station and manhunt was launched to nab the accused.
During the course of investigation, various persons were rounded up out of which one person broke down and confessed to commit the theft in the temple.
The accused has been identified as Vicky Kumar (28), son of Suresh Kumar, a resident of Saili Guli, Pathankot, Punjab.
On the disclosure of the accused, all the stolen items were recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Bakshi Nagar police station InspectorAshwani Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Sandeep Choudhary, SP City Dr Vinod Kumar and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
