Sitting in a chair, wondering about the mind and staring towards roof for new thoughts-what a creative and curious mind the human being once possessed. The rhythm of daily life and the inner workings of our brain, right down to the medulla, used to react and reflect organically. But everything changed the moment Artificial Intelligence (Al) touched us.

It would be unjustified to call Al inherently bad and harmful .Since India's trajectory transformed post-1991 LPG reforms through tech adoption.

Yet, no technology since has impacted the human psyche so ruthlessly.

It is well accepted to say verything comes with ferile (peril) and phronesis (practical wisdom)-but is Al promising more than it can safely deliver?

1. Cognitive Atrophy & The "Prompt Loop"

Al perils have deeply eroded our curiosity. From drafting school, corporate emails to writing academic lectures, basic cognitive functions are being outsourced. Society is trapped in a dopamine loop driven by short-form pictures and instant prompt generators.

There was a time when Google and Chrome revolutionized information. Even with the internet, we actively read through sources, synthesized fragmented data, and built original

ideas. But today, we have collapsed into a "Prompt-and-Paste" loop. By skipping critical thinking, we are intentionally underutilizing our cranial capacity-the very evolutionary gift of Homo sapiens.

2. The Aspirant Crisis & Economic Realities

This leads to a silent tragedy across competitive exam coaching hubs. Millions of youth spend years preparing for UPSC, SSC, or Banking exams. When selection doesn't happen, many find themselves in their late twenties with degrees on paper, but zero practical tech or corporate skills.

While hard work once offered a fallback, Al automation has changed the floor. Tech firms globally and in India have laid off thousands in customer support, entry-level coding, and

customer support, entry-level coding, and content roles to prioritize algorithmic efficiency. When an algorithm summarizes 500-page documents in seconds at zero cost, aspirants stranded without real-world skills are left asking: what about us?

We are placing extreme dependence on Al for personal solace. Moving towards sky-touching growth while sitting isolated in a room chatting with ChatGPT or Gemini signals deep loneliness. An emotionless machine cannot offer true empathy.

4. Cultural Homogenization & The Erosion of Human Identity

As generative engines standardize language, art, and storytelling, we are witnessing a subtle loss of cultural diversity and individual voice. When millions rely on the same algorithmic models to express thoughts, write essays, or design visuals, human creativity loses its unique regional nuances and raw authentic flaws. Our collective intellect is becoming homogenized-shaped by statistical probabilities rather than organic human experience.

The Way Forward

The problem is not Al itself, but how we make use it. The creative human mind is a supreme blessing of millions of years of human evolution. If blind reliance continues, we risk becoming walking entities with zero IQ, zero Emotional Quotient (EQ), and zero genuine knowledge. Al must remain a tool of leverage, never a substitute for human consciousness.

As Saint Kabir wisely warned against the dangers of unbridled excess:

Just as excessive rain or harsh sunlight destroys the soil, unchecked reliance on technology threatens to erode human consciousness.

Balance remains our only safe passage forward.
