Hemant Dharmat Sant Gyaneshwar,the crown-jewel among great saints of Maharashtrawas born in 1271 at Alandi, while his ancestors hailed from Pethan. The townfinds mention in the ancient scriptures as Pratishthan. His father Vithalpant was an ascetic.
