UDHAMPUR, Aug 9: One-day District Level Inter-School Under-19 boys and girls Competitions in the disciplines of Tennis Ball Cricket, Rifle Shooting, Fencing and Chess began at Mini Stadium, here today.
The venues of the Competitions were Happy Model Higher Secondary School, Udhampur and District Headquarter Udhampur.
Balbir Singh, Chief Education Officer Udhampur was the chief guest on the opening ceremony of the Competitions.
104 students from 11 schools participated in Tennis Ball Cricket (Boys), while in Rifle Shooting, Fencing and Chess 5 Schools participated. Speaking on the occasion, Balbir Singh, stressed upon the participants to take more part in the games and sports to make themselves physically and mentally fit and advised them to show same enthusiasm in the academic field too.
In Fencing, Rajan Prasher and Saksham Raina of Happy Model HSS Udhampur remained winner, while in Rifle Shooting, Parush Gupta of BBSV Peet Udhampur and Sangram Singh of HSS Boys Udhampur emerged winners.
In Chess girls, Sonali Sharma of L A Paradise was winner, while Muskaan of L A Paradise claimed runners-up spot.
In Chess boys, Robin Vaid of Govt HSS Boys was declared winner, while Satveer Singh of Govt HSS Boys emerged runners-up.
The Competitions were organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of Navin Agarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K.
The matches were officiated by Parminder Manhas, Ajay Sharma, Ramesh Chander, Ajit Singh Rakesh Khajuria, Rajesh Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar, Makhan Singh, Rishi Kumar Sharma.
Among others present on the occasion were Poonam Sharma, Anita Goswami, Swarndeep Singh, Ajay Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar and Karun Magotra.
