Srinagar, June 27: Technical, Non-Technical workers working in various colleges across Kashmir today staged a protest against the move of the authorities under which they have been stopped from working while their salaries have been withheld as well
Several such workers appeared in the Press Enclave and were seen holding placards, raising slogans in favor of their demands.
“We have been appointed through a proper channel and have been working on various technical as well as non-technical posts across Kashmir colleges, however, from May 28, we have been prevented from working,” Imtiyaz Ali, who is an instructor at Govt Women’s College, Nawa Kadal said.
He said that for those who have been engaged from 2015 onwards under need bases and local funds, their salaries have been withheld and many have been stopped from doing their work.
The protestors said that their biometric attendance, too, has been stopped, while alleging that they have not been informed about the reasons behind the same.
“We do not know the reasons. We should be informed about the same whether it is about the education department only because the workers appointed under the local fund are in every department,” they said.
The protestors urged the higher-ups to look into the matter and take measures in this regard. “We do not know whether we have been disengaged or not; we deserve to know what has happened to us; they cannot do this as we have been working for the last 7 years,” they said.
