Team Jammu takes out anti-drug bike rally

RAJOURI, Dec 19: Intensifying its on-going war against influential drug mafia and drug peddlers, Team Jammu today took out an anti-drug bike rally in Rajouri town in which hundreds of youth of this border district participated to reiterate their commitment to make Jammu region free from the yoke of drugs and narcotics.
This is the second rally of its kind organized by the Team Jammu to mobilize youth to become part of the war being spearheaded by the Team against drugs. Earlier, similarly rally was organized in Jammu city on November 28 which received unprecedented response.
The rally started from Jawahar Nagar and passed through Panja Chowk, Gujjar Mandi, Abdullah Bridge, Old Bus Stand, Nigesh Bridge, Jammu-Poonch National Highway and culminated at new bus stand near Salani Bridge.
En-route hundreds of people were present on both sides of the roads to encourage the youth who have taken the initiate to save future generation of Jammu region from becoming victim of this menace.
“We are here to give a message to the people of Rajouri that it is a high-time to awake from deep slumber because drugs and narcotics are slightly consuming lives of the youth of Jammu region”, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, chairman of Team Jammu told gathering at New Bus Stand near Salani Bridge.
“No section of the society has escaped from this menace. We have to jointly fight this war because youth of each and every community have become victim of this menace”, Jamwal said and cautioned that Rajouri is gradually emerging as haven for drug peddlers.
Before culmination of the rally, a memorandum was served to Governor NN Vohra in which it was demanded that Government should take effective steps to take on influential drug mafia in Jammu region.
It was also demanded that de-addiction centres should be opened in Jammu region on the line of neighbouring Punjab. ADC Rajouri received memorandum on behalf of the Governor.
