JAMMU, Oct 2: To involve general public in its campaign against drug menace, Team Jammu today organized a public awareness function wherein people were appealed to volunteer one member of the family for the cause to eradicate drug menace.
During the function, wherein Superintendent of Police, City North, Vinod Kumar was chief guest and DySP Hqrs, Jammu, Sugandha Mahajan was guest of honour, floral tributes to Uri Martyrs as well as to Father of Nation Mahatama Gandhi and late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri were also paid.
Zorawar Singh, chairman of Team Jammu, reiterated that the organization has taken pledge to get entire Jammu province rid of this drug menace. “It is a beginning of our campaign against drug abuse in Jammu. Our priority is to involve as many as youth in the on-going campaign to give a message to the society that youth of Jammu are ready to shoulder the responsibility to make this city free from drug abuse”, he added.
SP City North, Vinod Kumar, in his brief address, called upon the parents to keep a strict watch on the activities of their children. He said that first responsibility is on the family to keep a check on their children. He further said that parents should not maintain a distance from their children and they should involve their children in household activities to make them responsible.
DySP Hqrs, Sugandha Mahajan, asked the women folk to come forward and help society to curb this menace, which is taking the youth to a dark end. She said that if women including College girls, house wives and working women come forward in the awareness campaign against drug abuse, it will be a great help for police and civil administration to single out those selling drugs and can save many precious lives.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included chairman JK Colony Welfare Committee, Vijay Sharma, president Joginder Singh Chouhan , R K Sharma, Kunal Sharma, Sumeer Pandita, Simint Singh, Sweety Syoul and Nirij Rani.
