JAMMU, Oct 5: A day after conclusion of its nine-day long chain hunger strike, the agitating Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) today held a strong protest demonstration against alleged pick and choose adopted in recent transfers of Master and Lecturers whereas a support rally in favour of Director School Education Jammu was organized by General Line Teachers Forum.
The protest demonstration was held at Press Club Jammu while the support rally was organized at the Directorate of School Education Jammu.
During the protest demonstration, which was held under the leadership of Ganesh Khajuria, State general secretary of JKTF, the agitating teachers raised slogans against the Education authorities and in support of their demand.
The teachers’ body is demanding modification of the transfer orders, which have been issued in violation of Transfer Policy norms.
The protesting teachers alleged that the Directorate of School Education Jammu adopted pick and choose policy under which some blue eyed teachers were shifted at the zero kilometer distance within the city while on the other hand, several females,
Handicapped and patients suffering from life long ailments, were transferred to far flung areas of Jammu province for the reasons best known to the persons at the helm of affairs.
While speaking the gathering, Ganesh Khajuria alleged that the DSEJ was not listening to the grievances of victimized teachers thus forcing them to resort to agitational path.
“After meeting with the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and keeping in view the tense situation at the borders and the festival season, the Forum gives the time of one week to the administration to mitigate the just and genuine demands of protesting teachers and’ modify the transfer orders of victimized employees at the earliest,” he said and added that the central body of the Forum will meet on October 12 to chalk out further course of action.
Ganesh Khajuria also urged the Chief Minister and Education Minister to personally intervene in this matter and order an independent enquiry in the matter to unearth the corrupt means adopted by DSEJ in the recent transfers.
Others, who addressed the protesting teachers, included Rajinder Gupta, Gopal Singh, Surat Singh Toofani, Yograj Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Darshan Sharma and Rajeshwar Sambyal.
Meanwhile, General Line Teachers Forum held a support rally in favour of Director School Education Jammu and criticized the condemned the alleged parochial views of various bodies for their selfish motives.
Members of General Line Teachers Forum assembled at the Directorate of School Education Jammu and held the support rally amidst raising of slogans in support of the Director.
While addressing the rally, GLTF president Neeraj Sharma lauded the initiatives being taken by the Education authorities for streamlining things in the Department and announced that the Forum would not tolerate alleged blackmailing tactics of some associations. “When the corruption was at its peak in the Department, these associations and their representatives never raised their voice against at that time but rather justified the same and even held support rally against then minister,” he added and urged the authorities not to order any modification for any one as schools were already facing shortage of teaching staff.
Others, who addressed the rally, included Dr Parshotam Singh, Kiran Pandita, Digvijay Singh, Kanchan Meenia, Sushma Slathia, Upasana, Amit, Tajinder, Ramneesh, Munish Verma and Shivnandan.
