JAMMU, Oct 3: The need for saving the holy river and to spread the awareness for its conservation, activists of Tawi Andolan today organised an awareness camp at Tawi Ghat Bikram Chowk wherein hundreds of people gathered to immerse the Holy Saakh.
Led by Tawi Andolan convener, Chander Mohan Sharma scores of volunteers comprising president, Ch Sushpaul Singh co convener, Balvinder Bhatia, Sunita Devi, Raj Kumar, Santosh Kundal, Veena Bakshi and girl volunteers from University stopped devotees from immersing flowers, Chunris and polythene bags in the river so that river Tawi water should not get polluted.
Former MLA, Shiv Dev Singh, State president BJP Kisan Morcha, Omi Khajuria also visited the Tawi Ghat and appreciated the efforts of all the volunteers. The former MLA Shiv Dev Singh advised the people to keep the river Tawi clean.
