SRINAGAR, Dec 1: Senior CPI (M) leader, Mohd Yousuf Tarigami today expressed dismay over hardships being faced by disabled, widows, divorcees, old age pensioners and trans-genders who are getting pension through the Social Welfare Department in online registration.
The administration is handling the registration process very hard which makes a mockery of a single window system that was meant to provide easy access to government services.
The beneficiaries, who are old aged including the disabled are being made to sit for hours in sub-zero temperatures outside concerned District Medical Boards, which is very difficult for those living in far-flung areas.
Various applicants return to their homes each day without getting their details uploaded to the official site, which would ensure monthly assistance of Rs 1,000 which is meager and needs to be enhanced.
This pension is sustenance to thousands of disabled, widows, divorcee’s trans-genders and elderly people most of whom are not in a condition to fetch the required disability certificates, affidavits, Aadhar details, age and domicile certificates  from the concerned officers.
The CPI(M) leader urged the administration to take immediate measures for simplifying the whole process.
