Taj pays surprise visit to SMGS, GMC; suspends CHO

JAMMU, May 19: Taking strong notice of poor sanitation in SMGS, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today suspended CHO of the hospital with strict directions to the authorities to bring in necessary improvement in the existing sanitation system.
During surprise visit to SMGS and GMC, Jammu, the Minister described proper sanitation in health institutions as of utmost importance for patient care and stressed upon the need of raising the coordination level among all concerned agencies so that this vital requirement could be met.
“Our Government’s prime concern is to ensure that advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities are made available to the ailing within the state so that a proper patient care is put in place in J&K”, the Minister maintained.
The Minister directed the Medical Superintendent SMGS, Dr. Dara Singh, to gear up men and machinery for creating a proper sanitation system in the hospital. He also assessed the manpower availability in the hospital besides taking stock of functioning of CCTV cameras, ventilators, online birth registration and allied services.
The Minister directed the Principle and Medical Superintendents to conduct regular rounds of the hospital premises and the wards to ensure that proper cleanliness is being maintained. He asked all the medicos, paramedics and the management to work in tandem to meet the responsibilities of their pious profession.
The Minister went round different wards and units of SMGS and GMC and interacted with the patients and enquired about the quality of medicare being provided to them by the hospital authorities. He also inspected the status of availability of medicines especially life saving drugs besides taking stock of healthcare services being extended to the ailing there.
At GMC, the Minister inspected the construction work on latest state of the art 127 slice CT Scan Diagnostic unit being raised in the hospital which will work round the clock and provide online reporting within 45 minutes of CT scan. This facility would cost the same amount as already applicable under government rates.
Director NRHM, Dr. Yash Sharma, Principal, GMC, Dr. Ganshyam, Medical Superintendents GMC, Dr. Rattan Pal, Medical Superintendents SMGS, Dr. Dara Singh, Deputy MS GMC, Dr. Wasiq, Deputy Director Planning, GMC, M.L.Bhagat and other senior doctors and officers were present on the occasion.
