KARGIL, Oct 12: Covering a distance of 1100 kilometres, the caravan of rallyists reached the picturesque town of Kargil on Day 5 of Maruti Suzuki Raid de Himalaya. Situated on the banks of Indus river, with its vibrant workshops and old merchant shops, Ladakh’s second largest town witnessed the participants drive down the roads to finish leg 4.
Suresh Rana and co-driver PVS Krishnamurthy from team Maruti Suzuki lead the rally in Leg 4 by covering the distance in their Grand Vitara. Following them were Sanjay Razdan and Dharampal Jangra. In the X-treme bike category leading the pack was Abdul Wahid Tanveer. R Nataraj and Rajinder RE finished first, second and third respectively.
With every passing day, the rally is demonstrating to be a test of strength and adaptation for all the motorists. The rallyists not only have to worry about the rough terrains, serpentine twists and turns, taking proper care of their vehicles but it’s also a true demonstration of the infallible human spirit to acclimatize in the toughest of situations.
