SAMBA, June 11: The irate residents of Supwal in Samba district blocked Jammu-Pathankot, National Highway this evening for 25 minutes in protest against the water scarcity in Supwal and surrounding areas.
As per reports, the protestors said that the area is facing water scarcity for last six days and people have not a single drop of water to drink. The protestors alleged that despite the repeated pleas to concerned officers no steps were taken to restore the drinking water to the area which forced them to block NH.
The protestors raising slogans against the authorities demanded immediate restoration of water in the area. There was huge jam on highway as the protestors did not agree to lift the blockade.
However, later they lifted the blockade on the assurance of SHO Samba who rushed to the spot to pacify the agitators. The SHO assured them that the water supply will be restored as early as possible and he will take up the issue with concerned authorities.
