Sunil Sharma inaugurates inter- zonal cricket tournament

KISHTWAR: Minister of State for Transport, Youth Services and Sports today inaugurated inter- zonal cricket tournament for boys and girls in under 14 & 17 categories.

The tournament is being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports.

While speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that sports play a great role in student’s life. Being involved in sports activities not only provides physical strength but also increases mental prowess, he added.

Boosting the morale of female participants, the Minister congratulated them for giving large  participation to such tournaments and informed that in previous years many female players from our state have brought laurels to the state by winning various accolades and medals at national level.

Terming sports as the key for channelizing youth towards the betterment of the state, the Minister said that youth continues to prove its mettle in various sports events at national and international levels and hoped that the talent will continue to grow and perform in the future.

In a bid to boost sports activities in the state, the government is providing Rs 50 lakh for establishment of football clubs in villages across the state, the Minister informed.

Among others, District YSS Officer, Dewan Chand, SSP, Sandeep Wazir , Dy SP DAR, Manoj Kumar were present on the occasion.
