JAMMU, Mar 20: Students of Government Nursing Colleges today staged a protest demonstration at Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu demanding proper infrastructure and eligible faculty to teach them different subjects.
Led by ABVP activists, scores of students from Government Nursing Colleges including that of Akhnoor and Reasi assembled this morning in the campus of GMC Jammu and staged a symbolic sit-in protest. They raised slogans in support of their demands viz. eligible lecturers, laboratories for doing practical and other infrastructure while alleging that teachers teaching them for last more than one year are ineligible and unable to clear their doubts.

They further alleged that there are no laboratories in some nursing colleges and in the name of labs there are only four walls and no equipment or other requisite material to perform experiments. They demanded president of J&K Paramedical and Nursing Council, Dr Shashi Sudan Sharma to fulfill their demands without any delay otherwise their protest will continue.
Speaking on the occasion, an ABVP activist said that authorities do not listen to the voice of the students until they resort to protest. “Why the Government has opened so many nursing colleges, if it cannot provide adequate and eligible teachers to teach the students there,” he questioned and warned the authorities at the helm of affairs to provide eligible teachers in the nursing colleges so that students do not suffer.
