Udhampur, Mar 6: Students of various schools along with their parents inaugurated two bridges in Block Jaganoo constructed under Project Rahat for connecting schools and inaccessible hamlets. These bridges constructed in Phase-I were launched after technical test in Sarsoo and Dhandal Villages of Jaganoo, 27 KM from Udhampur town.
Bridge at Sarsoo in Prowa Panchayat will provide connectivity to five villages including Larh, Mani, Dhandal, Prowa and Sarsoo having 1313 households and a population of 6670 souls. Four panchayats of Prowa Jagir, Dhandal, Lar and Mani will have connectivity through this bridge. Two primary schools and an ration depot as well as 8 Anganwadi Centres will be benefitted as children, students and rationees will have round the year connectivity to reach institutions and ration depots.
Similarly, bridge constructed at Dhandhal will provide connectivity to 8 villages including Dhandhal, Chanunta, Battal, Khail, Panjgrain, Mani and Larh; and 5 Panchayats including Prowa Jagir, Chanunta, Mani, Pamjgrain and Larh. Moreover, it also connects Block Jaganoo with Block Ghordi. It will provide accessibility to 4 schools including MS Dhandhal, MS Patli, PS Chaura Talab and PS Moble; 1 Anganwadi Centre and 1 Ration depot besides reducing the distance by 500-600 meter.
The bridge connected Dhandhal with the only water source and Atta chakki in nearby habitation which remains cut-off due to flooding of rivulets. A livestock population of 1850 will also be facilitated by these bridges providing free moment.
Students, their parents and members of Panchayat expressed their gratitude to district administration for construction of these vital bridges which was a long pending demand and will provide round the year connectivity to schools, anganwadi centres, ratio depots and inaccessible hamlets.
Rural Development Department has constructed these bridges with high-end DRDO-HESCO technology having a weight bearing capacity 500 Kg per square meter. “Project Rahat-Securing Education and Life” headed by DDC Udhampur, having ACD as member-secretary, is comprised of BDOs and Engineers as members. The project is aimed at construction of record 114 bridges this year.
DDC Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, ACD Joginder Singh Rai, PO DRDA Dr Jagdish Mehra, CEO Bishan Singh, ExEn REW Mehmood Ahmed, BDO Jagano Sandeep Samotra, Tehsildar Ramnagar Sandeep Sharma, AEEs Mona Bhat, AE Rajesh Gupta, AE Vir Krishan and RDD field officials were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
