JAMMU, Mar 7: Minister for Health and Medical Education and ARI and Trainings, Ch Lal Singh has underscored the need for providing hassle free treatment facilities to the patients, stressing upon the administrative officers to bring complete transparency, accountability in the working of each section of the health institutions for the convenience of the people.
The Minister was interacting with the Medicos and Para-Medicos after reviewing the infrastructural facilities being provided to the patients at Government Hospital Sarwal, SMGS Hospital Shalimar, Government Ayurvedic (ISM) Hospital and Government Gandhi Nagar Hospital, here today.
Director General Indian System of Medicines Dr. Kabir, Mission Director NRHM, Dr Yashpal Sharma, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. B. D. Sharma, besides other senior officers of Health Department accompanied the Minister.
The Minister emphasized upon the concerned authorities that healthcare of the people is one of the top priorities of the Government and any negligence in this regard from the concerned functionaries would be viewed seriously. He stressed on the medicos and para-medicos to remain punctual to their duties and cautioned against any complaint in this regard. He said it should be ensured that patients do not have to wait in long queues for hours together for want of doctors or other staff during their treatment. He asked the hospital functionaries not to display any hoarding/posters within the hospital complex for advertisement of any private agencies.
Ch Lal Singh directed the concerned to ensure adequate arrangements of medicare facilities in the hospitals. He also instructed purchase of essential drugs well in time, stressing that no patient should face any inconvenience in the hospitals on this account.
The Minister received an appraisal report about the several programmes and policies initiated for up gradation of health care facilities in the State.
At Government Hospital Sarwal, he directed the Medical Superintendent, to enhance the wages of Safaikaramcharies from Rs. 3100 to Rs. 3700 as per approved Government wages. The Minister also announced Rs 10 lakh for renovation of hospital building including toilet blocks and white wash etc. and Rs. 75000 to make lift system in the hospital functional.
He also directed the Medical Superintendent of Government Hospital Sarwal and Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar to shift two dialysis machines each from their respective hospitals to Super Speciality Hospital Bakshi Nagar for use of the dialysis patients.
Earlier, a review meeting of Drugs and Food Control was taken by the Minister in the office of Drugs and Food Control Department.
He directed the Drug Controller to work out the proposals for augmentation of human resource as also upgrading the technology involving analysis of Drug and Food items.
The Minister also emphasized the need to observe Dress Code and also display the identity to prevent impersonation. The Controller Drugs was directed to constitute teams for conducting surprise checks to prevent gullible consumers from being cheated at the hands of traders indulging in profiteering and hoarding.
