Strengthening third tier of democracy need of hour: Kavinder Gupta

JAMMU, Oct 4: In connection with preparatory meetings for Block Development Committee (BDC) elections across Jammu & Kashmir the senior party leaders have started holding meetings across the State. One such meeting was taken by former Deputy Chief Minister & senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta in Reasi district in which various strategies and preparedness for the elections was discussed. The meeting was mainly attended by former Minister, Ajay Nanda; district president, Kuldeep Dubey; Baldev Sharma- Ex-MLA ; Sarv Singh, Kabla Singh, Shashi Gupta, Katra Municipal Committee, Chairman; Ajay Baru, Sudesh Puri and Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Terming the upcoming BDC elections mandatory for strengthening third tier of democracy at the grass-roots level in Jammu and Kashmir, Gupta exhorted the cadre to gear up for the elections and ensure that eligible, dedicated and sincere candidates are chosen to be elected to the chair. Addressing top functionaries of party, prominent leaders and Sarpanch’s & Panchs Gupta said participation of all elected representatives and other BJP and social workers is imperative to ensure their effective involvement in decision-making at the local level. Everyone has to work hard and spread the achievements of NDA Government to the grass root level as these elections is to strengthen the Government to grass root level, Gupta said. He said that every scheme launched by the Government should reach to last man in the line after the elections.
He said BJP believes in the principle of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ due to which Prime Minister Modi is sincere to strengthen Panchayati Raj system and the same has been possible after the applicability of 73rd & 74th amendments. The opposition parties in the State were never interested in conducting the BDC elections and opposed the 73rd & 74th amendments. Gupta said BJP will sweep BDC elections across Jammu & Kashmir.
