HANDWARA, Dec 8: Minister for CA&PD, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan today said that Handwara has been brought under special programme of development and as many as Rs. 26 crore are being spent on execution of various development works in the tehsil.
Ch. Ramzan was addressing a public meeting at Zachaldara today. Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone was present on the occasion.
Speaking about the developmental scenario under execution, Choudhary Ramzan said that by virtue of bringing Bungus Valley in tourism map of the State, thousands of unemployed youth of the area have obtained employment. He said that three tourist rest houses have been constructed and Rs. 6 crore were spent on construction of Bungus road.
Referring to providing irrigation facility to cultivable land, Choudhary Ramzan said that Rs. 10 crore are being spent on construction of irrigation ponds whileas Rs. 7 crore are being spent on water supply scheme in Rajwar, besides 32 Water Supply Schemes are being constructed in Handwara.
To extend adequate power supply to consumers of the area, the Minister for CA&PD said that Rs. 10 crore are being spent on setting up of Thermal Power Project in Handwara.
Moreover, two new gas agencies have been sanctioned besides setting up of new sale centres for LPG.
The Minister for Higher Education on this occasion said that lot of development has taken place in Handwara by the relentless efforts of present Government. He appealed people to strengthen the hands of Government for ushering into an era of progress and prosperity.
